And this week another classic!

I first heard this in the 80s and have loved it ever since. Bought the album, played it over and over, and then it was in the film ‘Static’.

I heard it again this week and I still love it!

Happy Sunday x

Tuesday again and this week it’s half term and we all know what that means! Lovely to have the children at home and more time to do family things, but less time for crochet. I’m trying really hard to fit a little bit in here and there, and hopefully this can continue throughout the week.

I’m now on to my 24th colour change. According to the list I’m working from there are 60 colour changes in total, which would mean I have 36 to go. In theory I could be finished by the end of November which would be great. In practice, as long as I’m finished before Christmas I’ll be glad!

Measurement-wise, I’ve got 15 pattern repeats which is 1m30 wide, and currently the length is 56cm. A quick calculation shows that 60 rows would be 1m40 in length and I’m not sure if that will be long enough so I may have to add a few more rows… we’ll see when we get there.

Still rippling!

Still rippling and still loving it. Happy Tuesday x

Fall Into Reading 2011 October 24, 2011

Ok, so I realise I’m a month behind on this but I’ve only just stumbled across it. Over on Callapidder Days I read about this and felt inspired to join in.

I like the idea of a reading challenge – I may finally finish books that I’ve been reading for a while!

On my list are:

1. Wildwood – A Journey Through Trees by Roger Deakin

2. A Tiny Bit Marvellous by Dawn French

3. Boudica – Dreaming The Eagle by Manda Scott

And if I get through those and still have time…

4. Musicophilia by Oliver Sacks

So I’ll begin this evening, dividing my time between reading and crochet. And I’ll be checking out the reading question on Callapidder Days on Wednesday.

Happy reading x

Which is obviously the best kind of Sunday! As half term begins I always feel it’s good not to rush into anything so we’re having a quiet couple of days, tidying up the children’s bedrooms, listening to music, good food, all in a lovely gentle way. We had a great evening with friends on Friday, veggie chilli, a few glasses of wine, a DVD for the children, and plenty of cool jazz for us. And then this morning as I lay in the bath I heard this and just had to hear it again.

Have a great Sunday x

Tuesday’s Tallies 5 – on Wednesday! October 19, 2011

Oh dearie me. I don’t know quite what happened to Tuesday – it just seemed to pass by before I ever got a chance to get anywhere near the computer!! Lots to do as always so a quick catch-up on Wednesday.

I’m on to my 19th colour change and back to Pomegranate, a colour I love. The ripple is now starting to spread nicely over my lap as I crochet which is a bonus now the weather has become decidedly cooler. In fact there may even have been a light frost this morning but as it was still quite dark when I first looked out I couldn’t be definite on that.

Rippling along

And on another note – I read Lucy’s post regarding the last dahlias the other day which made me think I must see if the Farmer’s Market had any this week. So yesterday morning I went off into town with this very idea in mind. First stop was coffee however with a couple of friends so we could catch up before half term. Then into the coffee shop comes my step-daughter with my gorgeous granddaughter carrying a beautiful bunch of dahlias. For me!! I was delighted on all counts as you can imagine. I had coffee and cake with friends, a good chat, met up with family and brought home a fabulous bunch of dahlias!

The last dahlias

Happy Tuesday indeed xx

I’m off now to check out how everyone else is getting on with their projects over on Gingerbread Girls’ blog

Another busy old weekend for me! On Friday night we went to a Tea Dance in the local church hall, a fundraiser for our primary school. All my children have gone there, but now only the youngest remains while the others have all moved on to secondary school. The theme was ‘blitz chic’ and everyone entered into the spirit of things with style. Bangers and mash, Victoria sponge, jelly and cream, and the occasional glass of wine, with music from a Glenn Miller style big band! A dance teacher came along to show us some steps and we all joined in with the Charleston and the Cha Cha Cha!! What with ‘Strictly’ being our favourite viewing just now, it was right up our street! And the decor was distinctly vintage…

Keep dancing!

Smiles all round as we danced the night away!

At the end of the evening I even managed a dance with my eldest son, a rerun of the last waltz we had a couple of years ago on my 40th birthday – what a night!

And to follow a link I came across courtesy of a very good friend – I hope you like it as much as I do…

Happy Sunday x

Here we are again, it’s Tuesday. I’ve had a mad hectic week, a big night out on Friday, a quiet day on Saturday, and a family day on Sunday, homework done, laundry folded, and my step-daughter, her partner and their little girl over for dinner. Of course, all of this, wonderful though it is, means little time for crochet! However, there is still progress…

The ripple progresses

Rippling loveliness

Now halfway through the 14th colour change, and I’m still loving it!

I’ve also been looking through my work bags and boxes just to see what else is still lurking. I found a pair of 2 at a time socks started ages ago so I think they may have to be revived. Although I’m enjoying the ripple blanket I do miss knitting so it will be good to bring this project back to the fore. And also to finish them! Then I still have 2 washcloths to make for the Christmas stockings so I must get on with those too!

For now, I think, a cup of tea and a little look at how everyone else is doing over on Gingerbread Girl’s blog.

Happy Tuesday x

Another Tuesday, another update for the One a Day project.

For me it’s been a really productive week. I was able to block my Northern Lights shawl, my ripple blanket is now up to the 10th colour change (!!), and not only did we manage to finish decorating our daughter’s bedroom but she has moved all her belongings back into it, and I still had time to give the bathroom a thoroughly good clean, and boy did it need it! 4 children, need I say any more!

I’m still really enjoying the ripple blanket. The Stylecraft colours are fab, and all seem to work together well. I always feel a tad uncertain when I first join in the next colour but then somehow it just seems right. I’m using the colour scheme for Lucy’s granny stripe blanket that is listed in the We Love Lucy II group on Facebook. I just love it’s rainbow gorgeousness!

So, photos…

Ripple in a box

Ripple in a box

I picked up a stack of boxes in B and Q this week on special offer – I just couldn’t resist, as I could see how useful they would be!!

I joined the 10th colour last night!

Northern Lights completed

Northern Lights blocked and ready to wear!

And just for you to see, my Northern Lights shawl in all its glory. It’s now wrapped and ready to be delivered later this week.

So, that’s it for me. Off now for a little more rippling before the school run, but that’s after I’ve checked out a few more of Tuesday’s Tallies on Gingerbread Girl’s blog xx
