I just love the idea that today is an extra day! And thankfully the sun is shining so I am feeling glad again (even though I have a terrible cold!)
I thought I’d just share what I’ve been up to this February before a full on Ta-dah tomorrow.

Happy Leap Day xx

Reasons To Be Cheerful February 23, 2012

Of which, of course, there are many. But here are mine for today…

1. A vase of spring flowers – tulips are my favourites!

2. Crocheting for hours – last week I started my first mystery CAL from the Bernat website.

3. Not mine or yours, but ours – it’s good to remind ourselves what it’s all about, why we are where we       are…

So there we go.

However, just one more reason to be cheerful is that on Saturday I’m going to the Hall for Cornwall to see…

Reasons To Be Cheerful – the musical! I’ve had a sneak preview and it’s great. Can’t wait.

Happy Thursday xx

OK I know it’s Wednesday! February 22, 2012

So maybe I should call mine One A Day on Wednesday rather than Tuesday’s Tallies!

I’ve been quite caught up with lots of things going on for the children, the usual winter colds, sore throats, etc and not a lot of time for me! Hopefully that will soon change!!

Not a lot to report on my one-a-day either as my blanket statement has ground to a halt. My LYS has so far been unable to acquire any Meadow so today I finally had to order online. It’s not that I am against online shopping; I just wanted to support a local shop. Also, it’s right across the road from me, a sort of newsagents cum corner shop which actually sells Stylecraft Special – can you believe it? Anyway, once the yarn arrives I can resume the blanket statement.

In the meantime, I’ve completed all the pennants for the baby bunting so it’s now on to the letters and motifs. The baby beanie is finished too, so we’re just waiting for baby to put in an appearance!

I’ve also been knitting a pair of fingerless gloves for a friends’ daughter. It’s her birthday on Friday and she’s a student so I thought she might need them to keep warm. We’re all getting together for a birthday supper so I need to get on and finish them so they can be wrapped and ready for the weekend. I’ll take a photo too so I can show them in my next post.

So for now, happy Wednesday xx

Valentine February 14, 2012

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
i fear
no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

for my best beloved x

Tuesday’s Tallies February 7, 2012

It’s Tuesday once again and this one finds me in a much improved mood. Today all feels right in my world!

Since last week my blanket statement has come along very nicely and I’m now on to the border. I have however run out of ‘Meadow’ in the 2nd repeat so I’m waiting for a new ball to arrive. I could have just used another colour but as I may need more ‘Meadow’ in my next blanket CAL, the Bernat Mystery CAL which begins 15th Feb, I decided I may as well have another ball! I have 2 colour choices for that and still can’t quite decide but more on that next week when it begins.

In the meantime it meant I could get on with the beanie and the bunting – both now almost finished so hopefully a ta-dah before the weekend!

And so to the border...

It looks a bit wonky in the photo, but doesn’t seem quite so in real life!

I’ll be going to check out all the other one-a-dayers over at Gingerbread Girl’s now.

Have a great week xx

To everyone who passes this way…

I’m saying a HUGE thank you to Kashi who gave me a Versatile Blogger Award last week. I’d had a couple of pretty miserable days and this was a really lovely surprise. To know that my ramblings and projects are enjoyed really means a lot. And Kashi, who lives a long way from me, feels like a great friend. I think that this is one of the most wonderful things about blogging; making friends and connections with others all over the world, sharing our joys and sadness, and all being part of a pretty great community.

And so on to the rules of the award…

  • Add the award to your blog
  • Thank the blogger who gave it to you
  • Mention 7 random facts about yourself
  • List the rules
  • Award to 15 bloggers
  • Inform each of those 15 by leaving a comment on their blog

So, now on to 7 random facts about myself

  1. I’m a qualified dental nurse.
  2. Usually I’m reading at least 3 books at the same time – one next to the bed, one by my chair, and one in my bag for when I’m out and about.
  3. I taught myself to crochet to get through a really troubled time.
  4. I play classical guitar and flute.
  5. I still watch Coronation Street.
  6. When I was 7 years old I took part in a gymnastics display for the Queen for her Silver Jubilee.
  7. I have a not-so-secret crush on Jarvis Cocker!

And the 15 blogs that I am now handing this award to are…

  1. Beberouge
  2. The Craft Giraffe
  3. Crafts From The Cwtch
  4. Knitspiring Odyssey
  5. Bella Bee and Me
  6. Gingerbread Girl
  7. The Green Dragonfly
  8. Faith
  9. Lori Makes
  10. Rose & Dahlia
  11. Lucy ‘in the sky’
  12. Stocki
  13. Little Woolie
  14. Planet Penny
  15. Little Things Made With Love

And there we go – 15 blogs which I regularly dip into, which make me smile and give me inspiration.

And Kashi you know that I would send this award right back at you too xx

So now I’m off to post on all these lovely blogs – happy days xx
